I don't know who needed it more, me or the audience at Saturday's John Street Jam. The set up is such: Four musicians sit in a circle and the audience is then stationed around the circle. We all took turns playing one song and then going around the circle to wait your turn to perform another. The audience was so polite, reminds me of when I play in Europe. It was also in a church, no doubt that made a difference. With all the hell going on in the world, it felt so good to be in that room.
As many of you know, I'm a hard core Indie girl. That means I really don't like anything corporate - unless its California Pizza Kitchen, and small regional stores here in the East Coast. And that particularly applies to mainstream music and their venues. My current focus is on 'local' and/or creating my own little niche bubble away from most entities these days. I just need a break from all of it.
Getting the feet wet again, performing this Saturday at the John Street Jam. Its a circle room performance shared by other local Singer/Songwriters in the Hudson Valley. Should be a beautiful evening.

Just to clarify my very static blogging patterns of late. Just came up for air having a partial hysterectomy from Endometriosis last month. Yesterday was my first day back on the ax and today I'm blogging. Re-posting my speech for the EFA Ball so that anyone out there reading who is suffering etc.. can maybe feel a little bit more comfort knowing the non 'air brushed' version of the daily life of Endo. As many of you know, this disease is so powerful in its attack, and the mainstream media often downplays its role.
